Oakcrest Elementary School has every excuse on paper not to do well. But over the last eight years, the students and staff there been quietly building a culture of success and community inclusion. Oakcrest Elementary School is in Hollywood Avenue, but the message of what the staff there is doing is getting a broader audience. Oakcrest has won national recognition for its Positive Behavior Support program, a behavior modification program that has decreased referrals and discipline problems at the school. Principal Denny Wilson has been asked to speak at several professional development and peer conferences about what is going on at his school. Wilson and Leigh Ann South joined us to share some of the secrets of their success.
