Working at Oakcrest Elementary isn’t for everyone. But it’s a good thing there are people like Denny Wilson and John Herber to fill jobs like those. We need more of them if Pensacola is to progress and bring all of her citizens along for the ride. Wilson, a trained counselor, had book-learning experience at what high poverty meant to child’s educational future. Oakcrest taught him the way it works in the real world. The way he applied that knowledge is a blueprint more folks could follow to help ensure all of our children get the education they deserve — no matter what ZIP code they live in.
