Fish hatchery project group

The proposed fish hatchery at Bruce Beach does not stand alone. For more than two years, the hatchery has been part of a group of projects proposed for funding through the State of Florida’s share of BP money in what is called Phase 3 Early Restoration Plan for the Natural Resource Damage Assessment Process. Those projects are: Escambia County: Dune restoration on Perdido Key, $611,234. Boardwalk improvements at Perdido Key State Park beach, $588,500. Hatchery, $18,793,500. Bob Sikes fishing pier, parking and trail restoration, $1,023,990. Big Lagoon State Park boat ramp improvements, $1,483,020. Santa Rosa County: Boardwalks and dune restoration at Navarre Beach Park, $614,630. Navarre Beach Park Gulfside dune walkover project, $1,221,847. Boat ramp at Wayside Park in Gulf Breeze, $309,669. Project at Escribano Point area of the Yellow River to mapping, assess and develop enhanced recreational opportunities, $2,576,365. Okaloosa County: Norriego Point restoration and recreation project in Destin, $10,228,130. Creating an educational and interactive boardwalk to allow access to Santa Rosa Sound in Fort Walton Beach, $4,643,547. Walton County: Deer Lake State Park development project to add a paved access road, parking, picnic shelters and a restroom, $588,500. Walton County boardwalks and dune crossovers, $743,276. Boat ramp improvements at Choctaw Beach, $140,642. Boat dock improvements at Lafayette Creek, $207,850. Bay County: Panama City marina, fishing pier, boat ramp and staging docks project, $2 million. Boat ramp improvements at the city of Parker’s Earl Gilbert Dock and Boat Ramp, $109,360. Improvements at Donaldson Point boat ramp in Parker, $60,569. Docking facility expansions at St. Andrews Marina in Panama City, $250,029. Mexico Beach marina project, $1,622,912. Oakshore Drive Pier project in Parker, $993,649. Gulf County: Highland View boat ramp, $176,550. Indian Pass boat ramp, $176,550. Improvements at Beacon Hill Veterans’ Memorial Park, $588,500. Windmark Beach Fishing Pier improvements, $1,177,000. Improvements at the Frank Pate Boat Ramp in Port St. Joe, $806,972. Franklin County: Improvements to county boat ramps in several locations, $1,771,385. Bald Point State Park recreations areas, $470,800. Wakulla County: Shell Point Beach nourishment, $882,750. Wakulla Mashes Sands Park improvements, $1,500,000. Boat ramp improvements in the city of St. Marks, $50,0006. Living shoreline projects: In Pensacola Bay, $11.6 million; in Franklin County, $775,605. Regional projects across the Panhandle: Oyster restoration in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Bay and Franklin counties, $5,370,596. Seagrass recovery in Gulf County, with potential sites in Franklin and St. Andrews counties, $2,691,867. Artificial reef creation and restoration in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton and Bay counties, $11,463,587. Scallop enhancement in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Bay counties, and possibly Okaloosa and Walton counties, $2,890,250. The U.S. Department of the Interior also has NRDA money to distribute under Phase III Early Restoration projects. Local projects that received Phase II money through the Department of the Interior are in the Gulf Islands National Seashore. They are the National Seashore’s ferry project, $4,020,000; and beach enhancement and debris removal, $10,836,055.
