The Institute for Women in Politics of Northwest Florida released its annual report, highlighting its work to increase the number of women in political life in Northwest Florida.

The local chapter is a spin off of “The 2012 Project,” an effort born at Rutgers University to increase women’s representation in political office.

Its signature event in its first year was a series of workshops on how to run a political campaign and familiarize participants with the political process, either as candidates, volunteers or interested citizens.

The group aims to increase its membership from 22 in its first year to 72 new members, including 10 student members.
