Let the campaign season begin.

The field of candidates for this year’s election were set when the qualifying deadline lapsed at noon today.

The most-watched Pensacola race will be the mayor’s contest, where Ashton J. Hayward faces off against Donna M. Clark. Two City Council seats are up for grabs, as incumbent Sherri Myers faces Dennis R. Tackett in District 2 and Brian Spencer faces Mark Taylor in the District 6 race.

Two Escambia County Commission seats are contested, with incumbent Gene Valentino facing fellow Republican Doug Underhill in the Aug. 26 primary in District 2.

The winner there will face the winner of the Democratic primary, which features Ray Guillory and Deborah Moore.

Incumbent District 4 Commissioner Grover Robinson, a Republican, faces Democrat Michael Lowery in the general election in November.

The sole elected seat on the Santa Rosa Island Authority is contested, with incumbent Thomas Campanella facing challenger Teresa Preston.

The Escambia School Board District 3 race is contested also, where incumbent Linda Moultrie will face challenges from Laura Dortch Edler and Charlie Nichols.

The circuit judge’s seat for group 22 is contested, with Jennie Kinsey facing Michelle Inere
