Out of This World Movie Night

Tuesday, June 3, 5 to 7 p.m. – Tryon Branch

Teens and adults are invited to enjoy "Gravity" by acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron, featuring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs 93 minutes.

West Florida Genealogical Society Meeting

American Girl: Isabelle

  • Saturday, June 14, 2 to 3 p.m. – Southwest Branch

Girls ages seven to 13 are invited to the Southwest Branch Library to celebrate the ballet adventures of American Girl Isabelle. In addition to craft activities and an interactive discussion of Isabelle’s passion for the performing arts, this event will include a ballet lesson from Pensacola Ballet dancer, Ellie Rose. Pensacola native and Harvard junior, Mary-Grace Reeves, will return to lead the event. Genealogy Research

Adults are welcome to join us for a genealogy research presentation by Bert Outlaw, President of the West Florida Genealogy Society, with Sandy Heaxt from the Genealogy Library.

Teen Shakespeare Company

  • Tuesday, June 27, 3 to 4 p.m. – Main Library

Join the young actors in the Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company (SETSCO) for a summer performance.

Reoccurring and Ongoing June Events

American Girl Book Club

  • Saturday, June 21, 2 to 3 p.m. – Southwest Branch

Join this exciting book club based on the American Girl Collection Series and learn what it was like to live as a girl during the 1800’s. The Southwest Branch Library invites girls even to 13 years of age to participate. The girls will receive a copy of the book Meet Caroline: An American Girl and will learn more about the club. Different activities and events will occur at each meeting. The American Girl Book Club will meet the third Saturday of each month untilSaturday, November 15. Space is available for 12 girls per meeting with three alternates. Interested patrons are encouraged to register at the Southwest Branch or call (850) 453-7780.

Art Exhibit

Paintings and pottery of artist Joyce T. Bennick will be on display June 1 to August 30 at the Molino Branch during its regular business hours.

Artists of Artworks Studio and Gallery Exhibit

  • Saturday, June 1, to Saturday, August 30 – Southwest Branch

The works of 15 local artists who currently exhibit at Artworks Studio and Gallery at Villagio on Perdido Key will be on display at the Southwest Branch from June 1 to August 30 during its regular business hours. A variety of mediums will be displayed including acrylics, watercolors, pastels, wood carving and photography on canvas and various subjects such as sea life, horse racing, portraits, floral and animals will also be shown. Blind Date With a Book

  • Saturday, June 1, to Saturday, August 30 – Tryon Branch

In the Tryon Branch’s Teen Study Room, choose from the Blind Date With a Book display (books wrapped in brown paper with short descriptions on the outside) for a new book to read.  When you have read the book, write your opinion of the book or a short review (1-2 lines) on the inside of the book and return it to the display and repeat as desired.

This group for adults meets on the third Wednesday of each month.

This is the first scheduled meeting for this group and a book to read will be selected.
