NEWS RELEASE -- Join WSRE, PBS Kids and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Sunday, Aug. 10 for an afternoon full of baseball, hands-on activities and dinosaur fun for kids of all ages.

The excitement begins at 3 p.m. with games and activities inside and outside the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium and at WSRE’s Imagination Station, all centered around the PBS Kids show Dinosaur Train. Pensacola State College SGA students will serve as volunteers.

Buddy himself, the show’s T-Rex star, will throw out the first pitch of the game at 4 p.m. Although his stubby Tyrannosaurus Rex arms aren’t ideal for throwing a baseball, Buddy will give it his best shot and see how close he can get the pitch to home plate (early estimates say the ball will travel at least three feet).

Kids are invited to come dressed as their favorite dinosaur for this special event. Buddy will take a stroll around the stadium to meet his fans, pose for photos and share lots of hugs.

There is no charge for the event itself; however, Blue Wahoos game tickets are required to participate in activities inside the stadium before and during the game.

To purchase tickets for the August 10 game, visit www.milb.com/tickets. Following the game, the Dinosaur Train “Classic in the Jurassic” special will premiere on the big screen in the stadium.

This event is possible due to a grant awarded to WSRE by the Jim Henson Company specifically to host special events and a premiere screening of the Dinosaur Train special. WSRE was one of only eight PBS stations nationwide to be awarded this grant.
