Pensacola City Council will have a special meeting on Aug. 11 to discuss the city charter.

The meeting at 4 p.m. in City Council chambers, would consider putting two charter amendments before city voters.

One would give City Council the power to hire its own staff. The other wold add a recall procedure for the mayor and members of council.

Council and the mayor’s office have clashed several times in recent months about the division of power under the charter.
