Is everyone in your organization rowing in unison or are people on your team drilling holes in the boat? And which answer bodes well for you business' future? Those are the kinds of questions that Lynne Cunningham is asking the 250 people who are attending the Studer Institute's strategic planning workshop for small businesses and not-for-profits at Hillcrest Baptist Church today. Cunningham is a strategic planning consultant who is leading the session, which is sponsored by the Studer Institute and its partners, Pensacola Young Professionals, Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce, Gulf Coast African American Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Escambia County. Cunningham says the key to building a successful business or not-for-profit is communication of the entity's goals from top to bottom. "If we don't communicate it to all of our leaders, all of our employees, all of our volunteers and communicate why it's an important goal, we're not going to get their buy in," Cunningham said. Cunningham has conducted strategic planning assignments for hospitals, medical groups, organ procurement organizations and blood banks across the country. She also has worked with community organizations nationally and internationally. Manna Food Pantries will be the case study used during the workshop to demonstrate the process that goes with developing a strategic plan. Read a Q and A with Cunningham here. See photos here.
