An interactive 3-D art display by artist Kurt Wenner comes to Cordova Mall this Saturday, sponsored by Cox Communications. The two dimensional 16 foot by 16 foot original artwork creates a 3-D illusion that viewers can stand in and interact with for photos. There are several places to interact with the art and take a fun photo to share with family and friends. Walk the tight-rope, drive the race car or just sit and enjoy the creativity. The event will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 20 near the Red Robin entrance to the mall. Everyone is invited out to see the artwork, visit with Cox’s mascot, Digeez, enjoy free face-painting, register for prizes, games and other great giveaways. About Kurt Wenner Kurt Wenner is an American artist with an international following, most known for his invention of interactive 3D art. His global success is due to the broad popular appeal of his classically inspired images. In the 1980s Wenner left his position at NASA to pursue his love of classical art in Rome, Italy. He developed a masterful drawing style through studying the great masterpieces firsthand. By fusing the patrimony of the past into his art, Wenner creates original works seamlessly across many mediums. He does this so skillfully that the public seldom understands he is the singular artist behind a dizzying array of images. The same artist whose 3d art images show up in your email is also represented by fine art galleries, and has a long career of public and private commissions. Wenner’s art fools the eye in more ways than we have imagined. This kind of mastery across the visual arts is rarely seen. Michelangelo and Da Vinci were known to jump between drawing, painting, and sculpting without missing a beat, and like them Wenner has mastered classicism. Passionate about the importance of this overlooked tool, he is devoted to bringing it back to light and has received the Kennedy Center Medallion in recognition of his contribution to arts education. When not traveling the globe for exhibitions and installations of his work, he spends time on select commissions, giving talks, writing books, and conducting workshops.
