CBS Sports is reporting local baseball pitcher, Ben Lively gets a new team.
Looks like the Reds have their new left fielder. Marlon Byrd has been traded to the Reds from the Phillies, the clubs announced Wednesday. In return, the Phillies will get minor-league pitcher Ben Lively while also sending some cash to the Reds. Byrd, 37, will make $8 million this coming season and has a vesting option -- that will trigger if he gets 550 plate appearances in 2015 -- for $8 million in 2016. For the Phillies last season, Byrd hit .264/.312/.445 (110 OPS+) with 28 doubles, 25 homers and 85 RBI. Lively, 22, made 13 starts in High-A and 13 in Double-A. Overall, he was 13-7 with a 3.04 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 171 strikeouts in 151 innings. He was a fourth-round pick out of the University of Central Florida in 2013.
