The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority reported two sewer leaks on Jan. 28: — One leak was at 731 Bremen Ave., as a result of a break in a 4-inch sewer main.  The overflow was estimated at 100 gallons, of which 85 gallons were contained, collected and transported by vacuum truck to the Bayou Marcus Water Reclamation Facility for proper disposal and treatment. — The second leak was 10,000 gallons at 9715 Pickwood Drive, when a 4-inch sewer force main broke. In the leak, 9,000 gallons were contained, collected and transported by vacuum truck to the Central Water Reclamation Facility for proper disposal and treatment. Crews repaired both breaks and the overflow area was then cleaned and disinfected with a biocide agent that abated any contamination concerns, per State protocol. The Escambia County Health Department and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection were notified.
