Sure “The Talent Search” was fun, but the folks at BlabTV also had a method to the madness. After judges saw 60 participants show their stuff at the Saenger Theatre, they and the producers chose a team to create a commercial for the City of Pensacola. You can see the winning results in the finale of the six-episode series Sunday at 8 p.m. The commercial that resulted highlights a special and specific part of our history and culture: Palafox Street. In 2013 the American Planning Association named Palafox among the Top 10 streets in the nation. The commercial aims to prove why. Executive Producer Claire Campbell says everyone they saw at the search could have made a great addition to the Palafox commercial crew, but everyone was chosen for specific reasons. “Deciding who our crew would be for the Pensacola commercial was not an easy task to say the least,” Campbell said. “But we felt excited about the people we landed on. They all brought a uniqueness and passion to their work and it was something we couldn’t walk away from.” Last week, BlabTV held a private screening of the commercial for Mayor Ashton Hayward and the six-member team so their reactions could be filmed for the finale. “Really the unique thing and cool thing for me was seeing these six folks who were chosen to own this part of Pensacola and really push the needle, if you will,” Hayward said. “So I think that the commercial was fabulous and I know we can use it in a few great spots.” blab-winnersMeet the crew: — Chris Cook, director: “Chris brought so much enthusiasm to the project. He’s a great listener and collaborator, which is so important – when a director trusts his team,” Campbell said. — Chris Jadallah, director of photography: “Chris is not only talented and visionary in his work, but so devoted to whatever he does,” Campbell said. “The judges were so impressed by his creative, eloquent presentation at the Talent Search.” — Alexis McDonough, first assistant camera: “That girl has so much spunk and passion,” Campbell said. “And to see what she’s already done and is aspiring to do at her age… we wanted to give her this opportunity.” — Felipe Munoz, graphic artist: “Felipe is such a thoughtful, intelligent artist, worker and person,” Campbell said. “He always asks good questions and cares about the project’s big picture.” — Samantha Shields, make-up artist: “Her unique and wide range of skills drew us to her,” Campbell said. “She’s so passionate about what she does, which is infectious.” _ Charles Ryan, editor: “We were so impressed by Charles’ previous editing work and experience, and overall demeanor,” Campbell said. “He’s just a great person to work with.” Tune into the finale of “The Talent Search” this Sunday at 8 p.m. on BlabTV to meet the crew, and see their journey, leading to the public premiere of the Palafox commercial. “Pensacola should be one of the greatest cities in the U.S. and we’re well on our way for everyone knowing that,” Hayward says.
