The EscaRosa Coalition on the Homeless is conducting the agency's annual Point-in-Time Count. They need roughly fifty volunteers to make face to face contact with people and give a quick assessment.
Organizers say the data is used to provide a "snapshot" of Escambia and Santa Rosa County's homeless population. It also provides a basis for federal funding, service and resource planning, and to raise public awareness. Most volunteers will work in shelters with a team, while more experienced help assesses the homeless camps.
The Point-in-Time Count is scheduled for Jan. 28. If you'd like to volunteer, call 850-439-3009 or email [email protected].
