The Pensacola Ice Flyers lost to the RiverKings, 4-0, on Tuesday night in Southaven for Mississippi's ninth consecutive win.

In the opening period, the Ice Flyers found themselves down 2-0 to the RiverKings with a pair of goals from Leo Thomas at the 4:29 and 12:07 mark. Matt Whitehead was in on assists for both goals. With 2:49 remaining in the first, Pensacola would go on the 5-on-3 man advantage for two full minutes and were unable to capitalize.

Early in the second, Sean Jones extended Mississippi's lead to three with a power play goal on a tripping penalty to Keegan Flaherty. Late in the period it was the same story; a penalty on Pensacola and a power-play goal for the RiverKings by Linden Bahm from Thomas and Whitehead to increase the lead to four.

This lead to coach Rod Aldoff's decision to pull Max Strang from the net and put Andrew Flemming between the pipes for the remainder of the game.

Fifteen shots taken by the Ice Flyers in the third and all were turned away as Peter Di Salvo would earn his second shutout of the season denying all 39 shots faced.

With the loss, Pensacola now holds a record of 23-14-6 for 52 points. The RiverKings now join the Cottonmouths and Ice Flyers in a three-way tie for third in the SPHL standings.

The Ice Flyers will be back on the road to take on the Louisiana Ice Gators this Friday at 7:05 p.m. You can watch live at Beef O Brady's in downtown Pensacola or Nine Mile Road. All away games are also available online at SPHLLive.com.
