Could Amtrak return to Florida?

Nola.com is reporting that a movement to revive the "Sunset Limited" Amtrak passenger train service that stretches from Los Angeles to Orlando, which includes a stop in Pensacola, is beginning to gain ground. Louisiana State Rep. Walt Leger III, R-New Orleans, believes the return of service is a critical need.
"Connecting communities and economic centers along this powerful 'third coast' - the Gulf Coast - has become more and more of a focus for leaders in the wake of the BP oil spill and the Hurricane Katrina and Rita events of a decade ago," he said Tuesday (March 17). "From a healthcare, education, and workforce perspective, effectively linking the Gulf Coast and its important industries is absolutely critical and strategically important."
