IMPACT 100 Pensacola Bay Area's 2015 membership drive has set another record, totaling 1,060 members.

That number exceeds 2014's membership total by 35, and once again gives the philanthropic women's group the distinction of being the world's largest Impact organization.

IMPACT President Cyndi Warren made the announcement Thursday before a packed house of women gathered at The Cathedral of Sacred Heart Community Hall on 12th Avenue.

“Thanks to everyone one of our members, the Pensacola Bay Area shines once again as the largest Impact organization in the world,” Warren said.

New IMPACT member Wanda Mercer said she joined the group in 2015 because she saw first-hand the positive impact the grants were having not only on nonprofit agencies, but also on local businesses.

“One of the winners of a grant last year used the money to buy a van, and they brought the van to my sign business to have the lettering done,” Mercer said. “It just shows you how the grants literally 'impact' the community.”

Since its founding in 2004, IMPACT Pensacola has awarded 57 grants to 49 nonprofit agencies, totaling more than $6.1 million.

That number will reach more than $7.2 million when the 2015 grants are awarded.

With each Impact member contributing $1,000, the group in October will award individual grants totaling $106,000 each to 10 nonprofit organizations in five focus areas.

Each of five categories will receive two grants of $106,000.

Nonprofit organizations interest in applying for a grant are invited to attend this year's Nonprofit Education Workshop at First Baptist Church, 500 N. Palafox St. on Thursday, April 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

All grant applications must be submitted to IMAPCT 100 Pensacola by June 26. For details, click here.
