Scott Harvey spent time playing golf in Pensacola, when he was visiting his mother and step-father in Pensacola as a boy. During that time, he met a fellow young player from Bagdad named Bubba Watson.
"We could tell as 10-year-old kids he was going to make it," Harvey said. "Bubba would hit a 2-iron into the green on a short par-4 when I would hit driver, (then) 9-iron."
Harvey will compete against Masters' champion Watson this Thursday when the Masters begins in Augusta, Georgia. We won his way into the tournament by proving to be a dominant player in the amateur ranks.
Harvey earned his place in the Masters field by winning the USGA's Mid-Amateur Championship in September. He didn't just win the national title in Bethlehem, Pa. He dominated a six-day tournament open to the nation's best amateur golfers age 25 and older.
