The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are hosting a NFL Draft Party for Pensacola High School graduate Damarious Randall. The party will be open to the public beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, May 1, at the Hancock Bank Club.

The NFL Network will be in attendance to chronicle this life-changing moment for Randall. His parents Vic and Gwen Randall are both members of the Blue Wahoos family.

Few college players draft stock has skyrocketed as quickly as that of the Arizona State defensive back.

Once a consensus Day 3 pick, he rose to a Day 2 selection and now some draft experts have the Pensacola athlete going late in the first round on Thursday, April 30.

The draft process has been a kind one to the 5-foot-11, 198-pound Randall. He has added 14 pounds since the end of the college season and recorded the third fastest 40-yard dash (4.46 seconds) and third highest vertical leap (38 inches) at the NFL Combine.

Randall attended two junior colleges in his initial attempt to become a baseball player but switched back to football after a shoulder injury. It turned into a blessing for the Sun Devils. He racked up 177 tackles over the past two seasons, forced 10 takeaways and returned two interceptions for touchdowns.

Randall, ranked as high as the No. 2 safety on the board, visited 11 teams before Day 1 of the draft, including the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. The defensive back could be used as a big cornerback, free safety or nickel.

Asked what he will do on draft day, Randall told media: “I’m probably going to be playing FIFA (video soccer). I’m just going to be taking in the process and enjoying the moment.
