Visit Pensacola, the tourism promotion arm of the community, is touting a flash sale through Expedia.com to lure visitors to our sugar-white beaches.

Visitors who book a stay through Expedia between now and June 15 can save up to 30 percent on select accommodations.

The news release on the promotion notes:

The Pensacola Bay Area — with miles of sugar-white beaches, world-class greens and waterways teeming with seafood — is the perfect place to ride out the warmer months, and getting there just got a bit easier on the wallet.

Whether you’re planning a bachelor party, a relaxing golf getaway or an exhilarating adventure in the gulf, we’ve got the lowdown to ensure you have a vacation worth bragging about for years to come.

Charter a boat, and spend the day reeling in red snapper, grouper and amberjack; or, for a truly memorable adventure, charter an all-night shark-fishing expedition and go head to head with some of the ocean’s fiercest predators.

June is also tournament season along the Gulf Coast, with the International Billfish Tournament from June 24-28 and the Bud Light Fishing Rodeo from June 27-28.

Noteworthy in this particular push is the focus on Perdido Key and historic downtown, including the Pensacola Blue Wahoos for baseball fans, as well.

For those who crave an even more laid-back experience, Perdido Key is the answer. This barrier island, named “Lost Key” by Spanish explorers in the 17th century, boasts one of the most pristine stretches of coastline along the Gulf Coast.

It is also home to Lost Key Golf Club, an Arnold Palmer-designed, par-71 championship course that was the first in Florida to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary.

If you want to unwind after a long day on the course but aren’t ready to turn in for the night, head to the Flora-Bama. This iconic beach bar, which straddles the Florida-Alabama line, is a true piece of Americana — having been sung about by the likes of Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffett, Chris Young and Blake Shelton.

The bar is also steeped in tradition — with a year-long lineup of quirky events you won’t find anywhere else.

Just a short drive in either direction from the beach, this historic seaport is chock full of colonial character, quaint beds and breakfasts, award-winning restaurants and eclectic nightlife.

To learn all about Pensacola’s storied past — and taste some of its home-brewed libations — consider taking a tour aboard the Pensacola Pedal Trolley. This pedal-powered vehicle can accommodate up to 15 passengers on its two-hour, “carbon neutral” tours of Pensacola’s historic district — including pit stops at local bars and downtown’s Pensacola Bay Brewery.

While you’re downtown, consider seeing a Blue Wahoos game at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium, named Minor League Baseball Ballpark of the Year by Stadium Journey magazine in 2013.

After the game, stop by McGuire’s Irish Pub. The landmark bar and steakhouse has achieved international recognition for its great food and bizarre traditions, which include inviting guests to staple autographed dollar bills to the walls and ceiling and demanding that first-time patrons kiss a mounted moose head.

The pub also features a wide selection of award-winning, house-brewed beers; one of the largest restaurant wine cellars in the world; and some of the best pub fare this side of Dublin.

Hitting the beach as well as other key targeted tourism experiences is clearly a result of the Destination 2020 effort. It will be interesting to see at the end of the season how these efforts have paid off.
