Pensacola City Council will meet in a special session to consider leases to three parcels at the Community Maritime Park proposed by Quint and Rishy Studer.

The meeting, set for 4 p.m. July 16 in council chambers on the first floor at City Hall. It comes at the request of Council President Andy Terhaar, according to the notice:

The University of West Florida's Center for Entrepreneurship is part of one of the buildings proposed in that package. The Studers propose a building on parcel 6 that would house the center, and is one aspect of a $20-million investment the Studers have proposed for parcels 3, 6, and 9 at the Maritime Park. The school and the convention center represent roughly $14 million of that investment, Quint Studer said.

The Center will be housed in the College of Business and host efforts to create a culture of entrepreneurial thinking. It will support the university's plans to create and expand certificate and degree programs in entrepreneurship. it also will house small business development resources, research efforts and be a home for a 14,000 conference center — planned on parcel 9 — to host workshops, seminars and public events.

The Studers announced a $1 million seed donation on July 2 toward the creation of a hub for innovative thinking and training in business.
