WSRE Food & Wine Classic date set

In its 27th year, the WSRE Wine & Food Classic is the granddaddy of local foodie events.

This year’s affair, themed Savor & Surf Southern, will begin with the annual walkabout tasting on Friday, Oct. 16. The following weekend, PBS celebrity chef John Besh will be WSRE’s honored guest for an afternoon book signing followed by a fundraising dinner on Sunday, Oct. 25.

The traditional Grand Southern Tasting on Oct. 16 will offer signature dishes by top local chefs and a selection of fine wines provided by Republic National Distributing Company at the Hilton Pensacola Beach from 6 to 9 p.m. [caption id="attachment_25505" align="alignright" width="450"]The WSRE Wine & Food Classic will begin Oct. 16. As part of his cookbook launch for “Besh Big Easy,” Besh will greet fans and sign books at SoGourmet in downtown Pensacola from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. Proceeds from book sales will be donated to the WSRE-TV Foundation.

That evening, Jackson’s Steakhouse will host an intimate “Big Easy” VIP dinner presented by Besh. A Bodacious Family of Shops is presenting sponsor of this 27th Annual Wine & Food Classic. Besh’s participation is sponsored in part by Polonza Bistro. Honorary event chairs are Will and Jane Merrill. Proceeds from all events benefit the mission of WSRE, the region's , PBS for the Gulf Coast, delivering quality television programs and educational outreach services for learners of all ages in Northwest Florida and South Alabama.
