Have you heard about this?

McDonald’s is now offering breakfast all day long. The 22 McDonald’s restaurants in the Pensacola metro area will be serving McMuffins and other items from the all day breakfast menu.

Cross the state line into Alabama and you get, “The Biscuit,” according to an infographic from McDonald’s. That means Pensacola is on the edge of the McMuffin.

Why is McDonald's serving breakfast items?

Business reporter Katie Little of CNBC has summed it in two paragraphs.

There's good reason why the Golden Arches would want to pivot and launch all-day breakfast: the restaurant chain needs to reverse domestic sales declines, and breakfast is the only segment delivering strong growth for restaurants.

"Breakfast has been such a growth area because consumers feel it's a good way to jumpstart their day. It's a lower priced occasion. Especially for fast food, it's convenient," said Bonnie Riggs, a NPD restaurant industry analyst.

REMEMBER: Two out of three people in the Pensacola metro area are either overweight or obese, meaning they have a body mass index of 25 or higher. Obesity-related health problems diminish worker productivity and add cost to the health care system.

McMuffins taste great, just eat them in moderation. There is also fruit & yogurt parfait on the menu.
