Kristy Imhof, Escambia County’s Teacher of the Year, believes she was born teach.

Karen Rasmussen, assistant provost and chief academic strategist at UWF’s Innovation Institute, helps people figure out what they were born to do.

Imhof and Rasmussen both appear on the Studer Community Institue TV show this week on BlabTV.

Imhof said her career in education actually started as a child.

“As early as 6 years old, I was teaching my little sister in my parents’ shed,” she said. “I think I was probably born to be a teacher. It’s in my DNA.”

At the Innovation Institute, Rasmussen helped launch and implement MyCareerShines, a comprehensive educational and career planning system designed to help people succeed in an increasingly competitive global economy.

“It is for people who want to figure out what they want to do when they grow up,” Rasmussen said. “We want everybody to be able to fit into a career that is meaningful … and meets their personal and professional goals.”

This week’s program, which is airing on BlabTV and on the Studer Community Institute website, features Shannon Nickinson and Reggie Dogan interviewing the guests about their involvement in education and their success in helping students and citizens reach their potential.
