The focus on early education and its impact on the quality of life in the community from cradle to career is coming to WSRE.
Data analysis by the Florida Department of Education’s Office of Early Learning shows that only 66 percent of Escambia County 5-year-olds are ready for kindergarten.
On a new edition of “inStudio” on WSRE, Jeff Weeks will host a discussion addressing this school readiness crisis, its long-term impact on the community and a new collective effort focused on the success of children from cradle to career.
“Rethinking Education: Getting an Early Start on the Road to Success” airs at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12.
Participating in the discussion are representatives from the Achieve Escambia collective impact initiative, including Pensacola Police Chief David Alexander III, Shannon Nickinson of Studer Community Institute, Jennifer Grove from Gulf Power Co. and Bill Dagnall from Navy Federal Credit Union.
Watch the conversation live on WSRE. The broadcast will later be posted for viewing at wsre.org/instudio.
