Of course reading to a child is important. It’s also important to teach parents what success looks like when reading to little ones.

Moms in the Thirty Million Words Initiative at the University of Chicago at first often had complaints about reading with their children: “She wants to hold the book herself.” “He won’t sit still.” “She doesn’t let me finish the page before she tries to turn it herself.”
