During National Volunteer Month, local nonprofits want Pensacolians to get into the spirit of giving. Community leaders and volunteers from more than 20 nonprofits groups gathered on April 1 at City Hall for a kickoff celebration hosted by the United Way of Escambia County and Pensacola Habitat for Humanity. Andrea Krieger, president and CEO of United Way of Escambia County said that more than 2,400 volunteers in area contributed approximately $926,000 in volunteer labor during the last year. At that event, folks signed a wall sharing the impact volunteerism has had on their own lives. The wall will be on display at Artel Gallery,223 Palafox Place, during Gallery Night this Friday, April 4. Community members are encouraged to come by the gallery to view and sign the wall.
