A tenant at the Gulf Coast Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship has been lauded in his field. Accountingfly CEO, Jeff Phillips, was recently placed on the 2014 list of Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting Today Magazine. Phillips was recognized because Accountingfly, with 10 employees, has revolutionized the aspect of recruiting and retention, which are primary concerns facing thousands of U.S. based accounting firms and corporate employers. “Phillips’ recruiting tools will change forever the way accountants get hired at all levels. Evening the playing field for smaller firms even as they empower the individual professional,” the magazine says. Accounting Today has served as the premier news vehicle for the tax and accounting community for 22 years. Phillips said he honored by the recognition. "Accountingfly started from scratch to fix a pain point in the accounting industry," he said. "The success that we have received is because of the team of employees, partners and mentors we have in place. I have my team to thank for help making all of this possible.” Phillips is the only Gulf Coast resident recognized in the top 100 list. Phillips and his company have been in the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship since inception. The CIE was designed to nurture fast-growth companies that serve a national audience with technology as the core to their businesses. Accountingfly is a unique recruitment application that uses social media, search marketing and events to attract hard-to-find candidates to accounting positions. Its software automates the recruiting process and helps employers build and maintain pools of talent empowering small accounting firms to have the same candidate databases as professional search firms. The ultimate goal of Accountingfly is to be a global career network for the accounting industry. Before Accountingfly was formed in 2014, the company was known as CollegeFrog.
