Student learning workshops comes to UWF

  A national leader in the field of improving student learning is coming to the University of West Florida. Saundra McGuire, director emerita of the Center for Academic Success and retired assistant vice chancellor and professor of chemistry at Louisiana State University, will lead a variety of retention workshops and talk about strategies to increase meaningful learning and academic success. “Metacognition: The Key to Lifelong Learning” starts at 6 p.m. on Monday at the UWF Conference Center. McGuire’s presentation will involve strategies that can be taught to students at any age to increase meaningful learning and academic success. The workshops will provide students, tutors, mentors, academic advisers and faculty with effective strategies, new ideas and techniques to get a better understanding of the overall role of metacognition in education.
