Steven Barry soon to take reins at Escambia Commission

When the leadership positions are shuffled at the Escambia County Commission, District 5's Steven Barry will be the commission chairman. The accountant and former Tate High baseball star at 40 is the youngest commissioner. He spoke with InWeekly about what he has learned in his first two years as a commissioner.
 He said he loves the job, even though it isn’t always obvious during the board meetings. “When you sit in the audience, I may appear rather stoic, but I love it,” Barry said. “I feel like, especially for the folks that aren’t regular attendees, whatever event or issue has brought them to the chambers is a very important issue to them.”
