Pensacola's observance of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1 took place at Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. The event's theme was "Getting to Zero": meaning zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related mortalities. The event featured the Rev. Jim Merritt of Holy Cross MCC Church; Pensacola Mayor Ashton J. Hayward and keynote speaker Dr. Susan Walch, an associate professor of psychology at the University of West Florida.
