Pensacola Bay Center, Bayfront Stadium ranked among best arenas

Two Pensacola venues have received national — even international — recognition in recent weeks. The Pensacola Bay Center and the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium each earned top marks in rankings of event venues released earlier this month.
Pensacola Bay Center — which is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2015 — sold more than 73,800 tickets in 2014. This achievement placed the venue at 86th in the United States and 152nd in the world on Pollstar magazine’s 2014 “Top 200 Arena Rankings.”
The Bay Center’s success was made possible by a tremendous lineup of performers and events. In 2014, the venue played host to seven of Pollstar's top 100 tours—including World Wrestling Entertainment, The Harlem Globetrotters, Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai, Elton John, Miranda Lambert, Jeff Dunham and Casting Crowns.
Also this month, the Pensacola Bayfront Stadium placed 12th out of 2,050 national venues on Stadium Journey magazine’s list of the “Top 100 Stadium Experiences for 2014” – outranking such legendary peers as Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, the Rose Bowl Stadium, the Superdome and the Dallas Cowboys' new AT&T Stadium.
In reviewing the Blue Wahoos’ home stadium, the magazine called it “a gem sitting on the waters of the Gulf Coast.”
“The Pensacola Bayfront Stadium provides a setting that is hard to replicate at any level of any sport in the United States," the reviewer concluded.
The honor — which comes on the heels of professional golfer and native Pensacolian Bubba Watson’s decision to purchase a minority stake in the team — is only the latest in a long list of accolades heaped upon the Blue Wahoos since their inaugural 2012 season.
The team has been recognized previously for Executive of the Year, Stadium of the Year and Organization of the Year. In 2013, Stadium Journey named the venue Minor League Baseball Ballpark of the Year.
