Alert Escambia, a new emergency alert notification system, is now online and available for Escambia County residents. In times of an emergency, the Escambia County Division of Emergency Management can notify participating residents via text message, email or phone call. When signing up for Alert Escambia residents can choose their preferred method of notification. The program is a joint effort by the Escambia County Division of Emergency Management, the Escambia County Health Department, ECUA, International Paper, Ascend Performance Materials and Gulf Power. Residents are encouraged to sign up for Alert Escambia notifications by visiting MyEscambia.com, then clicking on the “Emergency Management: Be Ready Escambia” tab on the left-hand side of the screen. This is a free service for the residents of Escambia County. The program is provided by Everbridge at a total annual cost of $70,000, which is paid through equal contributions by the six participating groups located in Escambia County.
