On a night that celebrated the 35th anniversary of the "Miracle On Ice" with Jim Craig as the honorary guest, the Ice Flyers took their fourth straight win as they defeated the Louisiana Ice Gators 4-2 on Tuesday night at the Pensacola Bay Center.

The night began with both goalies meeting at center ice for a ceremonial puck drop with Jim Craig. Pensacola was dressed in their replica 1980 USA jerseys that they will be wearing through the rest of the week.

The match started even on both ends. With a penalty called on Louisiana's Brad Denney for interference, the Ice Flyers would strike first with a power-play goal by Corey Banfield from Adam Pawlick and Steve Bergin at 14:15 of the first. Louisiana could not capitalize on a 5-on-3 power play late in the period and Pensacola would hold their one-goal lead heading into the locker room.

It was a busy second with four goals scored between both teams. Banfield would add another power-play goal just fifty-one seconds in. Jon Puskar then extended Pensacola's lead by three nearing the halfway mark of the period.

The Ice Gators were right back in it as Jake Hauswirth found a the back of the net not long after. With time running down, Nick Lazorko restored the Ice Flyers three-goal lead with twenty-nine seconds left and the period ended with Pensacola up 4-1.

Louisiana's Matt Zenzola would take over for Marco De Filippo to finish the game in net. Having trouble finding a way past Max Strang, the Ice Gators would pull Zenzola with 2:56 remaining in regulation. The decision would prove successful as Brett Peppler would score just twenty-two seconds after to pull Louisiana back within two.

With Zenzola still pulled, the Ice Gators continued to put on the pressure, but the Ice Flyers would hang on to win with a final score of 4-2.

Shots were in favor of Pensacola 38 to Louisiana's 26.

Three stars went to Banfield (2 goals), Pawlick (2 assists) and Steven Bergin (2 assists).

With the win, the Ice Flyers improve to a record of 39-21-13 for 47 points and now find themselves with third place in the SPHL.
