The architect who plans to build a new five-story hotel in downtown Pensacola says the property will be a nationally branded hotel. Architect Stephen Overcash of Overcash Demmitt Architects in Charlotte, N.C., said the owners are from Knoxville, Tenn. Overcash said that while his company has done hotels projects in the Orlando, Fort Myers and Miami-areas, the closest he has come to Pensacola is a project they have under way in Mobile. The City’s Architectural review Board will meet Thursday to review plans for the mostly brick facade facility at 101 E. Main St. The plans call for approximately 100 rooms. Overcash Demmitt Architects have designed hotel projects, mixed use, office space, public buildings and apartment and townhomes projects, according to their web portfolio. The site’s most recent owner according to Escambia County Property Appraiser’s Office records is Strategic Crossing Phase III LLC. Eric Nickelsen and Neal Nash are listed as registered agents of that company according to state records. Their company bought the property in 2005 for $2 million.
