On April 7, volunteers from across the community are invited to kickoff National Volunteer Month hosted by the United Way of Escambia County, Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, and AmeriCorps ACES, in conjunction with the City of Pensacola. The event is an effort to recognize national service members and alumni in our community and the positive impact volunteers make in the Pensacola community and surrounding areas; to thank those who serve; and to encourage other community members to give back. It will feature a volunteer activity from Gulf Coast Kids House that relates to April also being National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Guest Speakers will also address the importance of volunteerism. Refreshment’s from J’s Bakery will be provided. We hope volunteers from throughout our community will join us for this celebration, where we will recognize their volunteer efforts, while encouraging and inspiring others to find imaginative ways to engage in their communities. National Volunteer Month is about showing the nation that by working together, goals can be achieved and communities can be improved. Volunteers who attend will have a chance to network with other volunteers from throughout the community, while also learning about other volunteer opportunities in the community. The event will be held Tuesday, April 7th on the lawn of City Hall (rain location inside City Hall) from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to confirm their attendance to [email protected] or (850) 434-3157.
