A new Walmart Neighborhood Market is opening June 3 following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m.
The new store is located at 9301 Pine Forest Road and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It will include fresh produce and meats, frozen foods, groceries and pharmacy.
“Our new store’s location in northern Escambia County will provide a convenient, affordable option for a greater number of people, including those in more rural areas,” said store manager Frank Byers in a news release.
The new store is approximately 44,000 square feet and in addition to groceries, features health and beauty aids, pet products and cleaning supplies. The pharmacy, which features a drive-thru lane, offers a full range of products and services.
The new store employs up to 95 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Frank Byers began his Walmart career in 1998 as a deli associate.
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of grants from Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to local community groups, including Pine Meadow Elementary, Ransom Middle School and Tate High School.
A Big Family Welcome event is planned for the public on June 6 at the store from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last.
