The heat is stifling and the water refreshing this time of year here in Pensacola as we are gearing up for July 4 celebrations across the city and beaches. It’s one of our favorite holidays on the Gulf Coast. When Traci and I were living in other (landlocked) cities, we would dream of watching the beautiful fireworks over Pensacola Bay. Somehow fireworks over a cityscape are just not the same as fireworks over the water.  How lucky we are. On Saturday, Bayfront Parkway will be packed with people shoulder to shoulder all gathered to see the spectacular fireworks display put on by area Sertoma organizations over Pensacola Bay. The show will begin at 9 p.m. with a synchronized music broadcast on Cat Country 98.7. Molly_Ringwalds   Molly Ringwalds While the fireworks may be the culmination of most people’s celebration, there will be activities all over town beginning the evening of July 3 with the annual Molly Ringwalds’ Celebrate Freedom Concert at Seville Quarter.  Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event.  Doors open at 8:30 p.m. Call (850) 434-6211 for more info or to purchase tickets. Sertoma July 4 Celebration   Sertoma_July4     If you do not have plans to hit the beach or be out on the water on the Fourth, there are activities that are free all day in and around Seville Square in downtown Pensacola. Starting at 11 a.m. there will be live music on the Gazebo Stage and and tons of activities for families (inflatables, pony rides, arts and crafts vendors and food vendors). At 4 p.m., live music will begin on the Bayfront Stage. Fish House Fourth   July4_Fish_House   If you are not sure that you want to brave the crowds down by the bay, the Fish House is a great place to watch the fireworks. Their will be live music, great food and cold drinks!  Lucas Crutchfield will be playing at the Deck Bar starting at 5 p.m., and after the fireworks, Whiskey Kiss will take the stage. July4_Fish_House2The Fish House is also offering a ticketed five-course wine dinner on the upper balcony with unobstructed views of the fireworks display.  Table reservations are for 7 p.m. and are yours for the evening so that you can move freely between the upstairs and downstairs without giving up your spot. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling (850) 433-9450 or emailing [email protected].  For a detailed menu click the following link  www.greatsouthernrestaurants.com. “Beer, Barbeque & Boom” July4th   Finally, to be close to the action but still in an exclusive event, try “Beer, Barbeque & Boom” at the Lee House.
