Part of U.S. 90 reopened Monday afternoon following the derailment Sunday morning of a CSX train carrying phosphoric acid. One lane of U.S. 90 between Jeff Ates and SA Jones Roads in East Milton is open and one lane remains closed as crews work to stabilize and upright the overturned cars from the train derailment. Sarah Whitfield, public information specialist with the county, said Monday that as clean up continues, drivers should expect delays and use care in the area. The train derailed near the Santa Rosa Industrial Park, in Milton. No injuries were reported and no evacuations needed. Approximately 20 of the 44 cars the train was hauling were impacted. Emergency crews got the call shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday. Santa Rosa County spokeswoman Joy Tsubooka said two cars were carrying phosphoric acid but no leak was been found. A 150 foot isolation area has been put in place for safety measures. The Florida Department of Transportation, East Milton, Harold, Whilting Field, and a HAZMAT team with the NAS Pensacola Fire Department, responded.
