BlabTV hosted a three-day event in October that featured more than 60 people pitching new program ideas as well as their on-air talents and production skills for the station’s 2015 season. That three-day event is now being developed into a six-part series that BlabTV will begin airing on Sunday, Dec. 21. “The series is an opportunity for the entire community to see what Blab is up to,” said Claire Campbell, a BlabTV producer who is helping write and direct “The Talent Search.” More than 250 people responded to the station’s “Talent Search” call in the fall and another 350 people showed up at the Saenger Theatre for a reception that kicked off the tryouts. “I think the show will give Pensacola a behind-the-scenes perspective at what went into the development and execution of the three-day event at the Saenger,” said Campbell. “They’ll get to meet all of the participants just like we did and see that Pensacola truly does turn out amazing talent and ideas.” Kendall McCrory, another one of BlabTV’s producers, as well as Ryan O’Keeley and Grant Tyson of O’Keeley Media, are helping with the post production and editing of the series. Beginning in January, BlabTV will interview the other 190 applicants who did not have tryouts at the Saenger. McCrory, a Pensacola native who earned a master’s degree in film production from Florida State University after graduating from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, is coordinating the interviews as well as a series of workshops that will be held early next year for people interested in broadcast and film.
