“The SCI VMS Program was life changing for Native Cafe. We were already a moderately successful small family business, having opened our doors many years before and enjoyed a large local and regional tourist business base with steady year over year growth. But we weren’t confident in how to be a strategically growing business. The support we gained from our mentors with SCI VMS was not only key business strategy but also encouragement and common-sense guidance. This gave us the boost we needed to pursue lofty growth in a few year period and we couldn’t have done it and wouldn’t have done it without SCI VMS guiding the way for us. We have since developed a very successful social media, marketing, business development and community engagement plan that gets our little local cafe noted locally, regionally, and nationally. We also completed a restaurant expansion/remodel project that doubled our physical footprint and business capacity. During the expansion/remodel project we were able to develop an employee retention program and curriculum development program that retained 100% of our 40+ staff during a 3 month closure while construction was underway – in the Summer! This assured that when we reopened to our expanded space, we were more polished than ever, didn’t have to retrain any new staff, and our customers were ensured a solid return to the Native Cafe they’d always known and loved just new and improved. We have also launched a full event rental side of the business called Native Nights for private parties, business gatherings, live music shows, and more. We have also won numerous Best Breakfast, Best Brunch, Best Dish, Best Coffee and more from local award favorites such as Best of the Bay and Best of the Coast. We know, without a doubt, that we are as successful as we are now not only by the grace of God but also by the love and support of our community, our customers, and our beloved SCI VMS.
